Frugal Family Fun: Kid Workshops

Frugal family fun is a necessity these days. But even before it was necessary, I was always on the lookout for family fun on the cheap. One of our favorite completely free things to do is attend kid workshops that are offered by Lowe’s and Home Depot.

Lowe’s Build and Grow requires prior registration. Home Depot kid’s workshop does not generally. Each will give the child an apron and a free kit to complete in the store.

Lowes 2Lowe’s offers iron on patches with completion of the project. They kind of remind me of the girl scout patches I used to earn. Home Depot offers pins. Lowe's 1Little L has a lot of both of them. He adores going, and thanks to these projects I have learned how to use a hammer and like, build stuff! Lowes 3There is a little bit of a difference between the workshops. Lowe’s offers more complex projects generally. Home Depot’s projects are easier to assemble, but you get to paint and personalize it. Plus there is free snacks, which is always a plus for both of the guys in my life.

  1. I love these workshops. Such a great deal. I’ve even found a few for adults too. But they usually aren’t so frugal.
